Taylor’s Law School Recognises High Achievers at the Academic Awards 2017 Ceremony

On 30 August 2017, Taylor’s Law School together with the country’s top legal firms recognised outstanding law students during Academic Awards ceremony held on campus. Taylor’s Law School Academic Awards is a biannual event held every March and September to recognise students who did exceptionally well in their law studies, both in and outside the classroom.
23 students were selected to receive the Special Awards of Recognition for the 12th LAWASIA International Moot 2017, Law Society Office Bearers for 2016/2017, and Legal Aid Centre and Street Law Programme 2016/2017, in addition to 16 awards given out to top students including Best Overall Performance in Year 1 and Year 2 and best performance in each subject. Tang Jie Hao won Best Overall Performance in Year 1 (August 2016 year 1 cohort) and Ng Yi Lin was named Best Overall Performance in Year 2 and Best overall Performance in Year 1 and 2 (August 2015 year 2 cohort).
The awards were sponsored by the School’s Professional partners namely Azmi & Associates, Shearn & Delamore, Chooi & Company, Daniel & Wong, Zaid Ibrahim & Co., Sivananthan, Advocates & Solicitors, Wong Jin Nee & Teo, Lee Hishammudin Allen & Gledhill, Ariff Rozhan & Co., Raja Darryl & Loh, Shook Lin & Bok, and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA). Representatives from these leading law firms were present at the ceremony to award the prizes to the deserving students. The students received monetary rewards and internship opportunities for their achievements.
During the event, students had the opportunity to hear from the newly appointed Executive Dean of Faculty of Business and Law, Professor Jonathan Winterton and Head of Taylor’s Law School, Mr. Harmahinder Singh who congratulated the students for their outstanding achievements. Professor Winterton also commended the Taylor’s Law School’s staff and lecturers for their hard work and dedication in making Taylor’s Law School to what it is today.
