Industry Exposure for Communications Students at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2018

In conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2018, held in March this year at Raja Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, more than 20 broadcasting, advertising and public relations students from Taylor’s School of Communications participated as event ambassadors.

Taylor’s Communications Students as Event Ambassadors for the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2018 held at Raja Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The annual symposium which started in 2005, is designed to provide broadcasters and media professionals with the information needed to make the right decisions in the rapidly-changing digital age, both in technology choices as well and content approach.

The symposium facilitates learning, gathering of information and sharing experiences through its conference, workshops and exhibition. It provides a platform to share expertise and experiences, network with like-minded colleagues, showcase and embrace advancing technologies and today’s content approach. The event provides participating Taylor’s Communications students international and regional exposure, as well as networking opportunity with industry partners.

Bong Siew Mun, a Broadcasting with an Advertising minor Communications student, was glad he participated in the event as an ambassador. “I am very interested in the advertising and broadcasting industry. I really appreciate the opportunity to help out in the event. I learned some insights of broadcasting industry from the conference. Although the topics were quite heavy and hard to understand, but it was a great experience.”

Sharing the same sentiment with Bong Siew Mun, Martin Lee Yuen Ming, a first year PR & Marketing degree Communications student, was truly grateful for the opportunity, becoming the group leader of Taylor's Student Ambassadors at the event, working along with 28 other Communications students.

“Despite the many unforeseen last minute changes and challenges that happened throughout the event, I am very blessed to have a cooperative team. I am happy that we managed to work well as a team and made the event successful. In addition, I have learnt how to follow up on matters more efficiently, be more tactful in communicating with others, improve my leadership skills and also remembering to prioritize my team's welfare more. Without them, this event will would not be possible,” shared Martin.
