Mobile Application, “FeedOn!” Popular in Contests as Taylor’s University Student Wins a Second Award

Duncan Tsen, wins his second award this year for his mobile application “FeedOn!” to battle world hunger

A Foundation in Computing (FIC) student at Taylor’s University, Duncan Tsen Ken Sang, won a second award for his mobile application, “FeedOn!” at the Junior World Entrepreneurship Forum (JWEF) recently. JWEF is a global initiative derived from the World Entrepreneurship Forum (WEF) and is a community of students and young entrepreneurs worldwide that aims to promote and accelerate junior entrepreneurship globally.

“It is thrilling to see tremendous support for Duncan’s work and that he’s receiving well-deserved recognition for his creativity,” said Professor Dr. Hiew Pang Leang, Dean of School of Computing & IT (SOCIT). “This is a true testimony of our students’ capabilities who are geared to meet and tackle the challenges of the future.”

Duncan went head to head with the Top 10 professionals and students within Malaysia, including his peer Ting Shi Jin, pursuing his degree in Software Engineering (Hons) at Taylor’s, for his application, “Traquer”. Each candidate was required to pitch their startup ideas, as well as present a case study according to the theme, Global Entrepreneurship provided by JWEF. From this win, Duncan will represent Malaysia to the WEF in Hangzhou, China in October 2015.

“It was definitely a pleasant surprise to have won another award in such a short span of time. I am happy to receive great support for “FeedOn!” and helps me believe that the movement can be carried out globally,” said Duncan. “I am deeply honoured to represent Malaysia and Taylor’s University in Hangzhou, China.”

Shortlisted delegates have the chance to attend a two-day workshop on Entrepreneurship in August and September, network with industry leaders and attend a forum with key speakers like, Jason Lo, Chief Executive Officer of Tune Talk; Azran Osman-Rani, Chief Executive Officer of iFlix and Founding Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia X; and Nanxi Liu, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Enplug, California, USA among many others.
