“I have always been interested in modelling since I was in high school. I was inspired to participate in Miss Malaysia Earth pageant by my high school senior who had participated in Miss Universe pageant,” shared Janice.

Miss Malaysia Earth pageant aspires to serve as a platform to educate and empower the contestants and women in general about environmental issues and promote eco-tourism.

“I was encouraged by the message the pageant stands for as I personally believe that going ‘Green’ is fashionable,” said Janice who aspire to be a spokesperson on environmental issues through charity works organized by the pageant to give back to society.

“I am grateful for the support from my lecturers, my high school friends and most importantly, my mother who is my pillar of strength.

My mother, who was initially not too enthusiastic about me participating in a beauty pageant, became my biggest supporter after learning that Miss Malaysia Earth is about promoting ‘green’ initiatives and lifestyle. My mother is big on living ‘green’ at home!” shared Janice.

She added, “I never thought I will come in the top three as this is my first ever pageant and things were not going as smoothly in the week leading to the finals. The dress I was supposed to wear didn’t fit properly and I had a bad facial, but my mother encouraged me to stay positive, do my best and not to lose hope.”

Janice will be representing Malaysia in the world Miss All Nations Pageant later this year in Nanjing, China. She has been reading up on ecotourism and brushing up on her Mandarin in preparation for the world pageant and promised to do her best. We wish Janice good luck!
